The Company
In 1984 the entrepreneur Hansjoerg Böhm came to Portugal in order to settle in the Alentejo. Shortly afterwards, he began to select Portuguese grape varieties in close collaboration with the University of Evora. Today his company Plansel Seleccionada has a vast gene pool of all Portuguese varieties and has rights to various clones.
Since 1996 there has also been a grape variety refinement enterprise which always uses its own base or certified plant. At present over 2 million grafted vines are being produced.
With the arrival of his daughter Dorina Lindemann and his son-in-law Thomas Lindemann in 1993 further branches were established.
Since 1997 the family business has owned a winery going by the name of „Quinta da Plansel“ which has chiefly specialised in the development of grape varieties native to Portugal, whereby the brand name „Plansel Selecta“ (selected plants) has also played an important role. Today, the winery has 60 ha of its own vineyards.
In 2003 a service company was also formed which offers a complete support service to customers of the company „Viveiros Plansel“, providing all services from the planting of vineyards to the mechanical harvest.
